Join us on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast for immersive marine conservation expeditions led by respected marine biologists including Dr. Randall Arauz and Daniel Arauz.

6-Day Sea Turtle Monitoring Expedition

About this Expedition

Sea turtles are key indicator species. Monitoring their health directly supports ecosystem protection strategies. ​This 6-day expedition combines structured dive-based research with ecological education and field monitoring. You will work alongside marine biologists to monitor sea turtle populations, collect valuable data, and contribute to conservation initiatives that protect vulnerable species.

  • 6 days of 2-tank research dives

  • Assist with turtle monitoring during field dives

  • Participate in data collection and photo-ID 

  • Visit a protected nesting beach and turtlesanctuary

  • Attend conservation seminars by Dr. Randall or Daniel Arauz.

10-Day Shark Conservation Expedition

About this Expedition

This 10-day expedition expands the research experience and adds a powerful second dimension: community-based conservation in Costa de Oro with Turtle Trax. The first five days focus on shark and sea turtle monitoring dives. The second half immerses you in beach patrols, hatchery work, and local conservation initiatives.

  • 10 research dives supporting shark and turtle monitoring

  • Earn Shark Ecology and Sea Turtle Ecology certifications

  • Participate in data collection and field surveys

  • Travel to Costa de Oro for 5 days of volunteer work

  • Join night beach patrols monitoring nesting turtles

  • Assist in hatchery protection and community initiatives
