When your production needs to go below the surface, we know how to make it happen.
Costa Rica offers extraordinary wildlife both above and below the water. But underwater filming requires a very different set of skills, equipment and knowledge.
Rich Coast Diving provides professional underwater production support for television, documentary, commercial and other professional productions working in Costa Rica.
From marine life expertise and dive logistics to underwater photography, filming and safety support, we help production teams capture the footage they came for, while adapting to the realities of the Pacific Ocean.
Your Production Crew. Our Underwater Expertise.
Many international productions arrive in Costa Rica with experienced wildlife filmmakers who know exactly how to tell a story on land.
The challenge begins when that story moves below the surface.
Underwater filming requires more than an open-water diving certification. Depth, currents, visibility, thermoclines, marine life behaviour and changing conditions all influence how and where a production can work.
Our team combines professional diving experience with extensive underwater photography and filmmaking knowledge.

When the Ocean Doesn't Follow the Schedule
Underwater productions rarely go exactly according to plan. Visibility can change. Thermoclines can create completely different conditions at depth. Currents can increase.
Marine life may not appear where expected.
That's normal. Our approach is to constantly evaluate the conditions and adapt the plan rather than forcing the original plan onto the ocean.
This experience is particularly important when filming wildlife. Sometimes the best production decision is changing the location. Sometimes it's changing the depth. Sometimes it's waiting. And sometimes it's knowing exactly where to find the footage somewhere else.

Professional Photography & Film Experience
Photography and filmmaking aren't an additional service we recently added to diving. They have been part of our work for years.
Niels Prinssen and Celine Monfort have extensive experience creating underwater photography and video, working with dive resorts, conservation organisations, tourism projects and international production teams.
Through Travel2Sea Productions, they have produced visual content reaching audiences around the world, while Rich Coast Diving continues to work with professional photographers and film crews visiting Costa Rica.
This combination gives us a unique perspective:
We understand both the production requirements and the underwater environment.

Stock Footage & Additional Visual Assets
Sometimes a production spends days underwater and still doesn't capture every shot required.
Weather changes. Visibility disappears. The animal doesn't cooperate. Or there simply isn't enough time.
We also maintain a growing collection of underwater photography and footage from Costa Rica that can complement production projects.
Depending on the project, footage may be available for licensing or we may be able to arrange additional filming to capture specific material.

Why Costa Rica?
Costa Rica gives productions the opportunity to combine extraordinary terrestrial and marine environments within the same country. Rainforest,
volcanoes, coastlines, wildlife. And a remarkably productive Pacific Ocean.
For productions travelling to Costa Rica to document wildlife, adding an underwater component can create an entirely different dimension to the story.
We help make that transition from land to sea practical.
