SSI Pro Rewards vs PADI PRO+ Rewards: Which System Gives Dive Professionals Better Value?

When Divemasters decide to take the next step and become scuba instructors, they often compare SSI and PADI.
The conversation usually starts with training standards and recognition, but there is another important factor: how much support does the agency give back to the professionals who generate certifications?

For more than a decade, SSI has rewarded active professionals through its SSI Pro Rewards system. In 2026, PADI introduced its own PADI PRO+ Rewards Program, acknowledging that instructors deserve more value in return for their annual membership fees.
So how do they compare?
SSI Pro Rewards: Real Value From Day One
The SSI Pro Rewards system is simple. Every time an SSI professional certifies a diver, they earn points that have real financial value. These points can be used to reduce annual renewal fees or purchase Professional Digital Kits to expand their teaching portfolio.

The advantages for new instructors are even greater. New SSI professionals receive free professional membership for their first calendar year, and they earn five times the normal Pro Rewards points during their first full year.
This allows new instructors to quickly build credits that can cover future renewals or additional instructor certifications.

The SSI One Fee Advantage
One of the biggest benefits of being an SSI Instructor is the One Fee Solution. As an SSI Open Water Instructor, you can teach a wide range of additional programs, including Enriched Air Nitrox, Marine Ecology, Perfect Buoyancy and the Explorers children’s program, without paying extra application or annual fees.
On top of that you receive all of your recognition ratings for FREE !! As where PADI charges you a $120 USD application fee (depending on the region) for example when you become a MSDT.

In addition, SSI provides instructors with digital student materials, instructor manuals, presentations, exams, and automatic updates through the MySSI platform at no additional cost.

What About PADI PRO+?
PADI’s new PRO+ program is certainly a positive step. It rewards active professionals by providing credits towards future membership renewals based on the number of certifications they issue.
However, reaching the highest reward levels requires a very large number of certifications.
The biggest reward, a free annual membership renewal, is only achieved after 350 certifications in a single year. For many instructors, this is an extremely difficult target to reach.
In comparison, the SSI Pro Rewards system offers a much more attainable path to reducing or even eliminating renewal costs.
At Rich Coast Diving, none of our active SSI instructors pay annual membership fees because they consistently earn enough Pro Rewards credits to cover their renewals.
Most of our instructors achieve the required number of points within the first eight months of the year, allowing them to accumulate additional credits that can be used for Professional Digital Kits or saved towards future renewal periods.
This provides extra flexibility, especially for instructors who plan to take a holiday or have a period where they are not actively teaching. This clearly shows how much SSI cares about the dive professionals and the hard work they put into the industry.

While PADI PRO+ is a welcome improvement, it does not change the fact that PADI professionals face higher renewal fees, additional costs for many instructor ratings, and is overall much more expensive long-term. Choosing SSI saves you at least $457 USD per year just on renewal fees.
The Bigger Picture: Why Many Professionals Are Choosing SSI
The introduction of PADI PRO+ shows that the industry is moving in the right direction: dive professionals deserve to be rewarded for their hard work.

However, SSI’s advantage goes beyond a rewards program. It is a complete professional support system built around lower annual costs, free digital materials, the user-friendly MySSI ecosystem, and a transparent One Fee model.
