Deciding to become a PADI Scuba Dive Instructor means you are taking big step in your dive career. As a PADI professional, you do things others only dream of. Whether you work at a local dive center or at a resort, the adventure of a lifetime is yours for the taking. Imagine a job where you actually look forward to heading off to work in the morning.
But before deciding where to go you its important you weigh your options so you find an IDC Center that is the best for you. To help you with your choice we asked our recently graduated instructors about there experience here at Rich Coast Diving in Coast Rica. So you can decide if its the right choice for you.
But first things first !
1. WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A DIVE INSTRUCTOR ?
DIANE "I wanted to be a Divemaster first but then I realized it was almost impossible to get a job as a DM. And secondly I also wanted to share my passion for diving with other people"
BRYCE "I had a break from diving last year because I was getting a bit bored of diving and guiding the same sites over and over again. I began diving with some other friends who are also instructors and they got me super keen to do mine and get me back into diving again. Also the lure of being able to work all over the world is too tempting !".
NICOLAS "I decided to become a dive instructor to be able to turn a hobby into a job."
2. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO DO YOUR IDC WITH RICH COAST DIVING ?
DIANE "I wanted to come to Costa Rica, I checked in the PADI website and I found just two or three, PADI 5* Career Development Centers. I checked reviews on the internet and picked Rich Coast Diving because it has the highest rating from any other dive center".
BRYCE "I chose Rich Coast Diving because I wanted to do my IDC at a 5 star CDC with a platinum course director. I figured it’ll help me maximise my potential as an instructor and will also look better on my resume for future jobs".
NICOLAS "I chose Rich Coast Diving because it was recommended to me by a friend who had done his IDC with Rich Coast Diving".
3. WHAT DID YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR IDC AT RICH COAST DIVING ?
DIANE "The IDC is so hard that it makes the IE seem super easy ! The Course Director, gets you ready to be a great PADI professional".
BRYCE " I actually quite enjoyed it all. I felt like it wasn’t too repetitive that it got boring but it was repetitive enough that the knowledge was getting drilled into my head.
NICOLAS "I loved how well the course was taught. The course directors experience really shines through and makes the IE easy".
4. WHAT IS YOUR BEST MEMORY FROM THE IDC/IE ?
DIANE "The ocean session when visibility was so low we couldn’t understand what was happening next to us, that was quite funny !
BRYCE "Best memory was definitely finding out I passed haha !".
NICOLAS "When we were done 😂".
5. HOW WOULD YOU RATE YOUR IDC EXPERIENCE FROM 1 - 5
DIANE "5"
BRYCE "I’d give it a solid 4.75 out of 5. There’s always room to improve, nothings ever perfect but I’d hands down recommend Rich Coast Diving to anyone considering doing their IDC !".

6. WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE TO FUTURE CANDIDATES ?
DIANE "Study hard your Encyclopedia and watch skills video before coming"
BRYCE "Um definitely come more prepared than I did, even though I wouldn’t change anything haha. Also it’s easy!".
NICOLAS "Buy scubaexams.com and practice exams BEFORE the IDC it makes taking exams super easy!"
The IDC is a challenging course but the outcome is being able to follow your dreams and trade in that office for the ocean. Costa Rica is great country to do your IDC and here at Rich Coast Diving we will do everything to help you becoming the best PADI professional you can be!
